History of Church
The original name of Ramlung is Ramlung Shiipou. Ramlung Shiipou is the place blessed by the king’s grandfather called Apou Kang’bhaba saying “those who live in this place will build a big prosperous village in future”.
The pioneers with the knowledge of Catholic Faith decided to set up a new Catholic Church. On the early dawn of 4 February 1968, the pioneers migrated from Maram Khullen and founded Ramlung. The pioneers were as follows:
Mr. K. Rang-ngouni Lucas Mr. H. Pungdingouni Peter Mr. K. Psiikaba John Mr. H. Psiitaruba Moses
For the first few years the villagers went to Newdaranoichurch for Church services. Later, the villagers built their own Church of thatcher John Med Sheet till 1983.
Then, in 1984, the villagers with help from Rev. Fr. John Med SDB, the then Parish Priest of St. John Bosco Catholic Church Senapati, built a new Church with tin roof. In 1994, with the help of Rev. Fr. Bianchi Peter SDB, Parish Priest of St. John Bosco Parish Maram who arranged donations from Italian benefactors, a pucca Church building came up. The new Church was blessed on 6 May 1994 by Rev.
